Pregnancy Highlights : Week 23

Due Date:
August 17, 2011

Size of baby:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Maternity Clothes:
Same! Belly band with regular pants and occasionally, maternity pants.

Gender:
It's confirmed - A GIRL!!

Cravings:
Nada.

Symptoms:
I have a pain in my VERY lower back, but only when I get up from sitting on the couch.

Nursery:
So....this category might not stay in long, but I have some quick updates. We'll be moving, probably the month the baby is born, so it's hard to start a nursery, but the planning has begun! Anyway, my mom and I went fabric shopping Saturday morning for hours! It was a lot of fun. We found one grouping of fabric swatches, but decided to keep looking. Just as we were leaving another store, my eye caught COLOR. We went over to look at the fabrics and we instantly knew that those were the ones. Pictures to come in a later post. My mom also found letters that will work for the alphabet wall I want to have in the nursery. Again, pictures to come. Basically, the nursery is in full swing, it's just all happening in Lincoln at the moment :) My mom is a busy bee cutting out the patterns, cross-stitching a pillow (I think that's what you're doing... needlepoint... is that the same thing?) and much more! Thanks Mom!!! The nursery will look FABULOUS!

Best Moment(s) this week:
Being in Nebraska!!! Gosh, I had such a great time! It was so fun to have a shower (thanks Mom, Abby and Barbara!!) and see friends and family. I haven't seen some of those girlfriends for years!!!! And to find out that my friend Whitney is pregnant!!! CONGRATULATIONS Whit! It was just really neat to see how excited everyone is and neat to get baby stuff! It makes it all a little more real. We got a highchair, bath stuff, a diaper bag, bouncers, clothes, some homemade goodies from Abby, .... etc. What great friends and family! More to come on the shower!
